FNPN Grants and Scholarships now available

Florida Nurse Practitioner Network (FNPN) promotes continued education as the cornerstone of professional growth and development offering scholarships and grants to Registered Nurse and Post Masters Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner s and students. 

FNPN will award scholarships to two students, currently licensed as Registered Nurses, who are enrolled in a Masters level nursing program.  In addition, the applicant must be practicing and nationally certified through the American Association of Nurse Practitioners or the American Nurse Credentialing Center as an Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner. 

Two grants will be given to support Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner members pursuing a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) or Doctor of Nursing Practice Degree (DNP). 

One scholarship, The Jean Aertker Health Policy Scholarship, will be awarded to an ARNP or ARNP student pursuing the advancement of legislative practice policy and political changes affecting Florida Nurse Practitioners. 

  • Notice of Award or Declination will be sent to each applicant in July.
  • Scholarship and Grant Awardees are to be announced during the FNPN Annual Conference. 

Applicant Qualification

  • Each applicants’ membership in Florida Nurse Practitioner Network must be active for at least six consecutive months prior to applying for scholarship or grant funds.
  • Each applicant must be enrolled (at minimum) in their second semester within a College or University in Florida and taking no less than seven credit hours.

 Application

 Submit applications to floridanpnetwork@gmail.com  

  • A sealed transcript must be received with the application and essay before June 15th 2017 to confirm a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or higher.
  • Each applicant must submit an essay (maximum 1000 words) addressing one of the following topics:
  1. How do Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioners shape and promote professionalism throughout the state of Florida in context of an ever-changing healthcare environment?
  2. How do Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioners impact health policy on Nurse Practitioner roles and functions in Florida?     
  3. How has education of Florida Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioners contributed to improved health of people in a given population?
  4. Membership in FNPN: A strategic plan to assure statewide leadership of Advanced Practice Nurses

 FORMAT

  • Each page of the applicants essay should have the first three letters of the applicants last name and first four numbers of the applicants social security number (i.e. joh2627) in the left margin of the Header in lieu of a title.
  • Each page of the essay is to be numbered 1, 2, 3, etc …
  • Do not include: A) Personal Names or B) Names of a College or University on or within the essay.

AVAILABLE GRANTS AND SCHOLARSHIPS

The intent of the Florida Nurse Practitioner Network scholarship and grant funds are to help defray cost of tuition, books, or direct expenses related to the applicants Advanced Nursing Education. A portion of money raised through collection of membership dues within Florida Nurse Practitioner Network will be designated for Scholarships and Grants as indicated below:
